Aimi Odell is a London based Art Director, Designer and Creative.
ABOUT AIMI
With a career spanning over 20 years, Aimi is recognised for her explorative ideas, purposeful design and sophisticated eye inspired by her passion for all things creative, art, design, fashion, music, film and by her love of travel and her curiosity for different cultures, places and people.
Today, Aimi is working as a freelance Art Director and Designer for established magazine publications, including Conde Nast Traveller, House & Garden, The World of Interiors, The Observer Magazine and You Magazine. As well as the charitable organisation National Energy Action.
Aimi specialised in Graphic Design at Brighton University and started her career as a Junior Designer at the Telegraph Magazine and quickly worked her way up to Senior Designer before moving to a freelance role, working alongside design teams at British Vogue, Elle Decoration, ES Magazine, Stella and You Magazine.
In 2008, Aimi became a Senior Designer at You Magazine, focusing on editorial design for the weekly publication, including visual concepts and art direction for fashion accessories and beauty photo shoots.
In 2012, Aimi led the design team as Art Editor for the launch of Inspire Magazine, a large format supplement focusing on high-end luxury fashion and brands. Overseeing and implementing the design of each quarterly issue for both print and digital platforms, focusing on visual concepts, art direction for fashion, beauty and accessories photo shoots, working alongside well-respected editors, stylists, photographers and designers in London.
In 2015, Aimi moved to New York City, where she worked as Art Director at Lucky.com, enabling her to gain an understanding of design, marketing and business within e-commerce and social media. Shortly after, she began work with the design team at Conde Nast Traveller Magazine (US Edition), both print and digital. During this time, Aimi progressed into brand identity projects, developing branding for the fashion label Navy Black NY and textile design studio Gold Spink. Aimi also worked alongside artistic photographer Adrien Broom on portrait shoots for private clients.
In 2016, wanting to broaden her horizons within the fashion industry, Aimi became Brand Manager for the independent fashion label, IGWT NYC, utilising her experience as an Art Director to enhance the brand, the e-commerce platform and social media content.
In 2018, Aimi moved back to the UK, continuing her journey as a freelance Art Director and Designer during this time, she worked with notable London-based magazine titles and developed the branding for startups, Everything Social and 26.Wellington Ave. Whilst also building her own business, Three One Three Three, an e-commerce platform with a focus on environmentally conscious lifestyle products and accessories, where she led the creative side of the brand and managed the business with her business partner.
